Nintendo Switch players have the option to request a refund for their copies of Disney Dreamlight Valley. However, there is a catch that may frustrate some gamers. While Disney Dreamlight Valley will eventually be free-to-play, it is currently in early access. This means that only players who have purchased the Disney Dreamlight Valley Founder’s Pack or own Xbox Game Pass can play it before its full release, even though it is available for immediate acquisition.
Games in paid early access can be risky because players cannot predict what they will encounter. Players pay for early access to gain access to exclusive cosmetic items, such as Star Path rewards, that will not be available in the future. This means they can keep these exclusive items and rewards, but they may also have to deal with frustrating glitches and crashes since the game is still unfinished.
Since its release in September, players have encountered various amusing and frustrating bugs in Disney Dreamlight Valley. While some fans have had relatively few issues, others have had a less pleasant experience with the game. Recently, some members of the Disney Dreamlight Valley subreddit shared that they were able to receive a full refund for their Nintendo Switch copy of the game. However, the refund was provided as eShop credit rather than being returned to their bank accounts.
Nintendo is known for being challenging when it comes to refunds, but it has recently become more flexible. In November, many fans expressed dissatisfaction with the latest Pokemon game, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, and successfully obtained full refunds.
As news of these refunds spreads, more unhappy players of Disney Dreamlight Valley will likely come forward and attempt to return the game as well. It is undoubtedly better for them to receive some of their money back and use it on other digital games rather than keeping a game that they cannot enjoy due to frequent crashes and other frustrating errors. Hopefully, this will prompt the developers to prioritize fixing the game’s issues instead of solely focusing on maximizing profits by releasing more content.
Disney Dreamlight Valley is currently available in Early Access for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
