The prices of Sims 4 and Disney Dreamlight Valley DLC are compared in a surprising image.

Gamer Highlights Stark Difference in Cosmetic DLC Prices Between Disney Dreamlight Valley and The Sims 4

A comparison image created by a gamer has revealed a significant difference in cosmetic DLC prices between Disney Dreamlight Valley and Electronic Arts’ The Sims 4. The Sims 4 offers more value for players’ money, exposing a pricing problem with Disney Dreamlight Valley’s cosmetics.

Disney Dreamlight Valley was released as an early access game in September 2022 and has faced controversy over its prices for cosmetic items. Players have criticized the DLC for being overpriced and lacking content, with some calling the pricing predatory.

A Disney Dreamlight Valley player named chellekathryn on Reddit recently highlighted the issue with a comparative image. The image compared the price of the Summer Vacation Scrooge outfit in Disney Dreamlight Valley to one of the various expansion packs offered by The Sims 4. The Sims 4 pack offers a wide range of attire and furniture for $9.99, while Disney Dreamlight Valley offers only a single outfit for Scrooge McDuck at a slightly lower price of $8.99. It’s worth noting that Scrooge is a non-playable character in the game, so the cosmetic has no tangible effect for the player.

Players have expressed frustration with the pricing of cosmetics in Disney Dreamlight Valley, with some commenting that The Sims 4 offers a better deal. The Sims 4 has unlimited item slots and more variety for cosmetics and item sets. Some players also feel that The Sims 4’s DLC is overpriced, making Disney Dreamlight Valley’s prices even more unreasonable.

The Reddit user also noted that DLCs in Disney Dreamlight Valley don’t offer much in terms of permanent effects. For example, the Scrooge outfit applies to a character that never leaves his own store, so the player wouldn’t see the outfit most of the time. In contrast, The Sims 4’s packs usually come with new gameplay features and professions for inhabitants.

Players are hoping that Gameloft may change the prices in the near future. Disney Dreamlight Valley is available on Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
